Guidelines For First Reconciliation & First Communion
Sunday, 01 October 2006
  • Children must have one year of preparation prior to the sacramental year either in the Parish School of Religion, Edge, the Family Formation Home Program or a private Catholic School and fully participate in one of these programs during their sacramental year.
  • All families (Catholic school or public school) must be a registered parishioner of SJN and also register at the appropriate time for the sacrament by submitting a completed sacramental form.  At the time of registration families should provide an original Baptismal certificate to the Parish Ministreis Office if your child was not baptized at SJN.
  • To be fully prepared to receive a sacrament your family must participate in the entire SJN Sacramental Family Preparation Process the year your child is making his/her sacraments.  The Sacramental Family Preparation Process for First Reconciliation and First Communion consists of:
  •  1. Attending parent’s meetings & teachings along with children's preparation activities and lessons (dates and times listed below).
  • 2. Completion of the at home lessons and sacramental activities outlined in the Together in Jesus family folder given to each family at the evening sacramental meetings.  Lessons are to be turned in to the sacramental coordinator  or catechist before a child receives each sacrament.
  • Attend the sacramental retreat for each sacrament as listed below and the rehearsal for First Communion.

Note:
Catholic school families should contact the sacramental coordinators for more specific information and questions about the sacramental process for their children.  All families can contact Linda Mauge at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for information.
