"OUR LIVES AS DISCIPLES AND STEWARDS MUST BE SEEN IN GOD'S LARGER PURPOSE."

My name is Bob Wannemacher. My wife Deborah and I have committed to Monsignor David to be Co-Chairs of the Stewardship Council here at Saint John Neumann. We are excited about our new journey and invite you to help us with our endeavors. We have been members here at SJN for 20+ years and truly feel blessed for all that we have received by being active members in this exciting parish. We are especially thankful for all the friendships that have been created through our involvement in the parish.

Stewardship is a way of  life that acknowledges God as the source of all gifts. God gives to all of us our lives, our faith, our time, our relationships, our unique talents and life experiences. Our response should be to develop these gifts to their full potential while sharing these gifts with others. Stewardship is our way of giving thanks for all that has been given to us.

Parish renewal has been an on-going theme at SJN since the arrival of Monsignor David. The spirituality of stewardship is part of that parish renewal. The Building a Legacy of Faith Campaign is not only for a new worship space. The Legacy we leave will not be successful unless we, as parishioners, incorporate Stewardship as a way of life, as we are renewed in mind and heart.

Most of us are familiar with the three aspects of Stewardship: Time, Talent, and Treasure. We are all called to be stewards of all three of these gifts. In the coming weeks, you will be hearing a lot more about stewardship and renewal in this column as well as from the pulpit. Monsignor David and our committed deacons will be giving their thoughts on Stewardship. As a fellow parishioner, I ask you to make a commitment to pray and reflect on your stewardship commitment as part of our parish renewal.

As co-chairs of this committee, Deborah and I will be assisting Monsignor and the ministry leaders with the over 50 ministries that are currently active in the parish. We encourage all members to check out the many avenues where you can commit to share your time and talent. The Time & Talent Ministry Fair will be held next Sunday, September 28th from 9am till 2pm in Lind Hall. This will give everyone the opportunity to speak with different ministry members to find out more about all the activities going on in your parish.

Stewardship is an integral part of parish renewal. We need total parish commitment to complete renewal. I made my commitment and I urge you to make one. My years of involvement at SJN have opened my eyes to see that it

Life Teen Program

The Life Teen Program at SJN invites teens to establish a personal and dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. We strive to achieve this goal of leading teens closer to Christ by engaging teens in vibrant Masses, Life Nights, prayer experiences and service projects. Life Teen attracts teens by two major components... THE TRUTH and EXPERIENCE. Life Teen inserts teens into the mysteries of the Catholic Church so they can experience Christ's love through the Sacraments, especially the Eucharist. Life Teen is a comprehensive movement of the Holy Spirit that focuses on conducting excellent catechesis with the goal of understanding for conversion of heart. Post from the Past

Being A Disciple

It's a strange series of questions, but let me ask them anyway. Is being a son or a daughter something you do or is it something you are? Is being a daughter or son something that takes place only when you do something with mom or dad...  or... is being son or daughter something you are, for as long as you live? Following the same inner logic, is being a disciple of Jesus something you do each Sunday, when you come to Mass... or... is being a disciple defined by the way you live your life? Is love a task completed (checked off the to-do list, like groceries and gas) or is it a relationship to be lived?

In my last two weekly columns, I've tried to share with you the beauty of a spirituality of stewardship. This "way of living your life"... stewardship... is the way of living a disciple's life. Translation: being a good steward of the gifts given is being a follower of the Lord Jesus, who is THE gift given.
