Good News

Our newly minted Receptionist Ministry is off and running. Parishioners are giving a morning or afternoon of their time during the work week, to answer the telephone and to greet the folks that come to our parish office. We have a group of wonderful workers. But as the saying goes, we’re looking for a few more good men and women. If you might enjoy giving of yourself as a member of our office staff, for a little or for a lot, please call Eleanor Marshall, the coordinator of this ministry (404.277.8420, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. One of our great joys as a Catholic people is liturgical prayer. Let us pray that the Spirit speak to the hearts of our parishioners (and to you), that more and more teens and adults can become involved with the liturgical ministries (e.g. Lector, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, usher-greeter, a member of one of our choirs). And speaking of liturgical ministries, here is a moms & dads and teens alert: there will be a series of Altar Server Training Sessions in the coming months, on the 2nd of August (5 and 7 PM) and on the 14 th of September (5 and 7 PM). These training sessions will be very important to our celebration of the Sunday Mass. So, I am hoping to see every current server as well as new youngsters and teens willing to assist the deacons and priests every weekend. Nicole Beaudoin (404-216-9485) will work with our clergy in training the servers; and Nancy Fadeley (770-972-6455) will join Nicole, in coordinating the scheduling of this important parish ministry. I’m looking to see all the “old timers” along with a bunch of “newcomers”. Moms & dads and teens, please call either Nicole or Nancy if you have a question about the upcoming training sessions. I thank God for our servers and for their parents who support them and for our coordinator-leaders.

In considering our liturgical prayer, the parish is in need of sacristans. As you might know, Rick Weber has been involved in maintaining the sacristy and in working with the clergy & staff on the great Solemnities of Christmas and Easter. Rick will continue to assist us with the “big events”; but, we are in need of a few men and women that will dedicate themselves to keep our sacristies in good order. An ideal sacristan is someone that has the time to come to Church once or twice a week, just to keep things orderly in our two sacristies and to maintain our liturgical supplies. I am asking that you consider this “call to service”, especially if you have the time to give of yourself weekly to the liturgical life of our parish family. Please contact me with your questions. .or better, your “yes”!   It is a joy to serve the Lord and His people. Come and see.
