FLOOD UPDATE

Noah's Ark

(Updated 10-13-09:) THANK YOU, SJN for your tremendous outpouring of goodwill!
The leak has been identified and fixed, we believe, and ALL is up and running again at the Church and Lind Hall! Thank you for your continued prayers: St. John Neumann, pray for us!

NEWS FLASH!!! 10-12-09  We're flooding again!
The downpour has caused water to come flooding into Lind Hall through the electrical
conduits. It is coming in near the main service box, so all power at the Church has been shut down. The parish office is closed, but the Religious Education office is open for communication

purposes. All activities scheduled for the Church building and basement for today are cancelled! Also, the Tuesday morning 6:30 and 8:30 Masses are cancelled. The Sacramental Preparation meeting for parents on Tuesday evening has been moved to Donnellan Hall in the school building. The school building has not been affected, so PSR for Tuesday is still "ON". Please check the website for changes, as we will operate day to day, and update closings as such.

HELP! Monsignor will need of helpers if the flooding continues to move items to prevent more damage. If you would be available to help on short notice, please call Mary Lou Schwaner's cell: 678-462-9911. She will begin a call list, in case more emergency situations arise.

Thank you and please pray for our parish!

Updated: 10-9-09

This will be the last of these “emergency updates”. We are mostly back to normal!

1) Lind Hall is open to normal use (with reservation).
2) The school’s space is open to us for our PSR, Family Formation and EDGE, and Adult Education classes.
3) Our pre-school will move to Lind Hall on Monday, using Lind Hall and half of the nursery each week, until the pre-school is rebuilt. All the children were happy to be back at school!
4) We are working with our insurance company and with Catholic Construction Service Inc. (CCSI), on various repair issues we must face: storm drain problems; leaks in Lind Hall, leaky roof in the church; the “fixing” of the pre-school.
5) Softball is “on” at SJN!

6) The Fall Festival weekend, Oct. 23-24, will be a wonderful way for our community to recover spiritually, through laughter, music and lots of fun! Please join us for the Dinner-Dance for adults on Oct. 23, and for the Festival itself on Oct. 24!
6) In this flood crisis, we have learned how important our web-page is…for quick and sure communication. Please make it a part of your spiritual life, to check in to the goings on at SJN…AT LEAST once a week.
7)  Thanks to all that have assisted all, in caring for the parish these last three weeks. Though we have lots of issues to face together (mostly financial), I know that we are a stronger community because of what the flood did…it brought us together.
8) Please send this to all the ministry heads plus as many SJN folks as you might know.
AMGD, Monsignor David

Updated: 10-6-09
1) Lind Hall is ready for use, beginning on Wednesday morning, Oct. 7.
2) The Preschool (currently meeting in the nursery) will move much of its operation to Lind Hall on Monday, Oct. 12. Pre-school will continue to use one half of the nursery each day until 1:30 pm.
3) Pizza & prayer (Life Teen) is ON for Wednesday, as is EDGE. The first Confirmation Class will meet in Lind Hall at 6:30 pm on Wednesday. Children's Choir is also "on" for Wednesday.
4) PSR and Monsignor's "Theology of the Body" class is on for Thursday, Oct. 8. Adoration is on, as well.
5) Work is being done to gather bids for the reconstruction of the preschool.
6) The Regional Catholic School has been very helpful to the parish, in keeping us informed about their space (and our use of it). Many thanks to Jim and Nancy.
7) As all may have heard, staff member Linda Mauge (EDGE coordinator) lost her mom this past Saturday. The funeral Mass will be at Corpus Christi, on Thursday at 10 AM. SJN staff will carpoorl to Corpus Christi.

This Sunday’s (10/10-11) second collection will be for the parish flood relief fund. We sustained damage in the  church, Lind Hall,  the Neumann Center (Preschool), softball field, and some outside infrastructures. We ask that you be as generous as possible to help us rebuild our spiritual home. Our thanks to those of you have already given; your donations are most appreciated!

ALSO, the "Introduction to the Theology of the Body" Class
will meet THIS Thursday, October 8, from 6:15 to 7:15 pm in Lind Hall. Nursery will be available. Please come prepared to discuss Chapters 1-3 in the C. West book.

Monsignor's Book Club will reconvene on Thursday, October 15, from 7:30-9:00 pm in Lind Hall. Please come prepared to discuss Chapters 3-5 in the Ralph Martin book.

Deacon Greg Ollick's Apologetics Class will begin on Thursday, October 29.

Thank you for your patience with the necessary cancellations due to flooding.
