Jesus of Nazareth has many titles. One of them is Savior, the one who saves. The question is: What (who) are we saved from? If we are created by God and are the image and likeness of God, why do we need to be saved? The Book of Genesis will help you understand God's plan for us.
At each liturgy, the presiding priest offers the chalice in prayer and speaks about the blood of the new and everlasting covenant... being shed, poured out. What does the word covenant mean? And why is blood mentioned? The Book of Genesis will help you understand God's plan for us.

Though the Lord Jesus had many followers, there were twelve that had a special relationship with him. Why twelve? After the Risen Lord left this earth at his Ascension, the group of eleven came together in prayer and asked the Holy Spirit to offer them one to fill the place left after the betrayal and death of Judas. Why was twelve such an important number? The Book of Genesis will help you understand God's plan for us.
Abraham, Isaac, Jacob... these names ring a bell. How are these ancient ones related to the story of Jesus of Nazareth? The Book of Genesis will help you understand God's plan for us.

As you are reading this, I am beginning to relax with my small group of buddies, in Sunset Beach, North Carolina. Along with enjoying the beach, good food and fellowship, I've brought several books with me, and I will use this "off-time" to prepare for the adult formation classes I will offer this fall, on Thursday nights. Please do consider all that is offered at SJN, as we seek to grow strong in the Lord's service!
