Happy Mother’s Day to all of our moms! What a blessing they are to us. What a blessing you are to us. Let us pray for all moms: those we love in the here and now; those we miss and have offered in prayer to the Lord.
In last week’s column, I let all know of a change in the weekday Mass schedule at SJN. The changes made were made after consulting with our clergy, our staff, the school and the members of both the Pastoral Council and the Liturgy Planning Committee. The changes were made in the hopes of making it possible for more of the SJN community to participate in a weekday liturgy.
As most of you know, people often ask the presiding priest at a Mass to offer that Mass (his intention and blessing) for a person they know, living or deceased. This is an ancient tradition, and has been one way that the priests of the Church are supported financially (with small gifts that might accompany the request for an intention). The parish secretary records these intentions in a Mass calendar.

With the changes made to our weekday Mass schedule, we want to make sure that everyone that has requested a Mass for the intention of a person knows how we will change the schedule of their Mass intention. So, for everyone that has asked for a Mass intention at SJN during a weekday Mass, our secretary will “transfer” the intention in this way:
+ Every Mass intention scheduled for 9:15 AM will be moved to 8:30 AM of the same day.
+ We have begun to accept Mass intentions for the 5:30 PM evening liturgies.
Please know that we will “transfer” all Mass intentions in the way outlined above, as of the 18th of May. I ask that you call our parish secretary, Mrs. Carmen Neris, if you have any question regarding Mass intentions. Thank you for your patience, in adjusting to this new scheduling of Masses.
I have been a member of the Georgia Federal Credit Union for many years now. This credit union has a relationship with the employees of the Archdiocese. Please drop by their table in the narthex this weekend, to learn more about this non-profit credit union, and how they might be of service to you.
Though times are difficult for most of us, great things are taking place at SJN. The building project is in full swing. A changed Mass schedule is being offered, so that we might come together more often in prayer. Next fall, we will have additional offerings for adult ongoing formation. So many good things! But please remember that the clergy and staff that are working for you and with you receive their salaries from your financial contribution. We are able to pay our bills with your offering. Offertory, week by week, pays for all you see here. Your BLF redemption pays for what is growing outside. Your commitment to the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal pays for the formation of our priests and much of the formation of our deacons. I urge you to join me, in sacrificial giving…of your time (and mine), your talents (and the little I possess) and your treasure. We cannot do without this sacrificial giving…from each of you. I know that what is happening at SJN is of the Lord. We need you to believe that too, and offer the parish yourself, as a gift to God…in time spent, talents shared and treasure offered.
