March Forth on March 4th!

Please, take this bulletin home and make sure to mark your calendars (and electronic devices) for these three dates in March:

1)    The 4th of March, at 5 PM (rain or shine)! As a parish family, we will gather together on Wednesday afternoon... every child... every teen... every adult, and we will witness our Archbishop bless and break the ground for the new church. Please change your plans and make plans to be at the parish on the 4th of March. As a family, we will march forth on March 4th!

2)    On Thursday evening, the 12th of March, at 7 PM, we will have an extraordinary opportunity for our Lenten prayer. A priest of the Archdiocese, Fr. Joseph Morris, will offer his one-man show, Mark's Gospel LIVE. Fr. Morris will tell the story of the Lord Jesus as found in the Gospel of Mark, the earliest gospel to be handed down in written form. Please mark your calendars for this great Lenten gift for SJN, on the 12th of March at 7 PM. Come and join me as we witness the greatest story ever told. Bring your children and teens. Bring a friend. See more about this one-man show at www.gospelofmark.us.

3)    The parish family will gather together on Monday evening, the 23rd of March, at 7 PM. On that Monday evening, we will hold our Lenten Penance Service. We will have lots of priests from our Deanery with us, to assist us in celebrating the Lord's mercy, as we confess the sin that distorts and diminishes our lives, and receive the blessing and power of the Lord's mercy. Don't fail to take advantage of this blessing. Come and see the goodness of the Lord! Join me on the 23rd as we are honest with ourselves and with the Lord: broken by sin, redeemed by love!

At this weekend's Masses, you might have the chance to witness Deacon Bill Marten as he begins his service with us as a Deacon. He was ordained on Saturday morning, and he will celebrate this blessing of God with us over the weekend, and for the next 20 to 30 years! When I was contacted by Archbishop Gregory about taking on the Pastorate of SJN nearly two years ago, the first person I talked to at our parish was Bill Marten. He was a blessing for me as I moved to SJN, and he is a blessing to all of us in the many "jobs" he does for this parish family. Let us rejoice with him and his family, as he takes on this new call of diaconal service!
