Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe To Visit St. John Neumann Church

The Archdiocese of Atlanta has given us a wonderful opportunity. From Sunday, November 4  – Saturday, November 17  SJN will be the recipients of the Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. This is a very special opportunity.

Our Lady of GuatalupeTHE IMAGE: This summer at the Eucharistic Congress, the archdiocese announced that there would be an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe traveling as a “pilgrimage” to all the churches and schools in the archdiocese.  The Archbishop commissioned this pilgrimage himself, and will conclude it himself by re-consecrating the archdiocese to the protection and patronage of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on December 12, 2007. The image is coming to St. John Neumann from St. Lawrence  and after SJN the image will move on to Corpus Christi. The tremendous significance of the apparition of the Blessed Virgin in Mexico in 1531 to St. Juan Diego (and the miraculous image that still remains there now) for all Christians throughout the Americas is still felt today and has been attributed to many miracles (go to http://www.sancta.org/nican.html ). The issues we struggle with today in regards to the dignity and value of the Hispanic people, of reality and inviolability of children in the womb, of belief in miracles, of the role of the church and of its holiness—despite the struggles of its people and its clergy, of the closeness of God, the depth of His love, and His incredible desire that all men be saved. .it is all here in one image!
