Father's Day

First of all, a blessed and joyful Father’s Day to all our dads. Please take care to show the dads a special love this Sunday. And for those of us that have lost our fathers, please know that they will be lifted up to the Lord in our prayer, at the Masses this weekend. Blessings to all of our grandfathers as well. Now, a few notes for the parish:

(1) Fr. Carlos Mario Bustamante has been re-assigned to the parish of St. Benedict’s, in Duluth. He served the St. John Neumann community for a little less than a year. Though Padre Carlos spent much of his time with the Hispanic parishioners of our parish, he was a faithful celebrant at the 6:30 AM Masses on Mondays and Tuesdays. Padre Carlos did not seem to want any formal “good-bye”, but let’s offer him what disciples of the Lord Jesus have to offer, our heartfelt prayer, that the Lord continue to bless this good priest. Fr. Young and I will miss his good company at the rectory.

(2) Rev. Mr. Armando Herrejón-López will be ordained to priestly ministry for the Archdiocese of Atlanta on the 30th of June; and, according to God’s providential care, his first assignment as a priest will be with us. The Archbishop honors our parish, in thinking us the proper place for this newly ordained priest. Our parish will allow our newest member nearly three weeks of vacation-celebration time, so that he may travel back to his native Mexico, and celebrate his ordination for Atlanta with his extended family.

He will return to Lilburn on the 20th of July and will celebrate his first Mass at our parish on the 22nd. During the next several months, I will make sure to schedule him for each of the various Masses in English, so that all may get to know him. He is fluent in at least two languages, and will offer us leadership in prayer in both English and Spanish.

(3) Just before Pentecost, I reached out to each of you, asking for your advice and counsel about how we are to meet the needs of a growing Gwinnett County, and the needs of a growing St. John Neumann. Please, I ask again that you take just a few minutes and complete the on-line survey about our future building projects. Information on “how to” can be found in today’s bulletin, and paper copies of the survey are in the office, for those that are not comfortable with or hooked into the Internet. I need to hear the gathered wisdom of the parish. Please assist me with the leadership I’ve been given, and let me know what you think.

Ministry Spotlight

Special Needs Ministry

Our mission is to enhance the Parish of St. John Neumann by accommodating, servicing, and welcoming with open arms, all members of our community with special needs, their families and their caregivers. We foster by example, an acceptance of all of God’s children; in the same way that Christ showed his love for us.
