Pastor's Corner
This weekend at all Masses we salute and have a special blessing for all those who are undertaking the important task of imparting the knowledge of our faith to the young people of our parish. I sincerely thank these teachers who are undertaking this vitally important pastoral ministry. James provides this counsel: “Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deluding yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his own face in a mirror. He sees himself, then goes off and promptly forgets what he looked like” (James 1:22-24). May the Lord bless our faithful who have volunteered to teach our young people this year with the grace to be hearers and doers of the Word. Please pray for them. The following is a Prayer for Catechists that you may use during the coming year.
Prayer for Catechists
God, our Father,Thank you for sending us catechist
who sow and nurture the seeds of faith
that you so graciously provide for us.
Through their efforts
we draw closer to you.
Bless these men and women
Who serve the Church as catechist.
Strengthen them so that they may give
Faithful witness to you always.
Enkindle in them the fire of your love
So that they may share your light
And warmth with those they teach.
May they live lives of Christian witness,
Being for us beacons in the darkness,
Shining as mirrors who reflect your light
And love to all they meet.
Let it be said about these catechist,
“For them, life is Christ”
We ask this in Jesus’ name through the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
